This late Gothic diptych draws you in with its quiet intensity — four saints arranged with solemn dignity, their faces individuated enough to feel like portraits despite their heavenly subject matter. Produced in Germany around 1490, the work belongs to a moment when northern European religious painting was moving toward greater naturalism while still rooted in medieval devotional conventions.
