Paintings From Photo is a small UK business, painting portraits from photographs since 2023. Every commission starts with a person reading your photograph, and ends with you approving the finished painting.

A person reads your photograph first
Once you order, we look at your photo properly within hours, 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday (UK time), and tell you straight: whether it will make a good painting, which size suits it, and anything that would make it better. If it won't paint well, you send another or get a full refund before any paint goes on the canvas.

Professional artists paint it by hand
Your photograph goes to our partner studio with a written brief: the likeness, the markings, what to leave out, the background you want. Trained portrait painters paint it in real oil on canvas, by hand. It takes about three to four weeks.

You see it before it ships
The finished painting is photographed and the picture is sent to you. If something isn't right — a face, a colour, a background — it goes back to the painter until it is. Nothing ships until you've said yes.

It arrives rolled, ready for a framer
Paintings travel unframed, rolled in a tube, with delivery included wherever you are. Any framer can stretch and frame the canvas, and a frame chosen near you will suit the room better than one shipped to you.
If something goes wrong
Email hello@paintingsfromphoto.com and quote your order reference. Every email is answered by a person within hours, 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday (UK time). If a painting arrives damaged, or isn't what you approved, it is replaced or refunded in full. The detail is on the refunds page.
What we don't do
We don't print your photo onto canvas, run it through a filter or have software generate the painting. We don't publish your photograph or your painting anywhere without asking you first. And the paintings in our gallery are real paintings from the studio, made for other people and shown with the photographs they were painted from — not mock-ups.
Two smaller things we do
We restore old and damaged photographs, and we paint made-to-order copies of public-domain masterworks. But most of what we do starts with a photograph of someone — or something — you love.
