Most family commissions start with a photo that is almost right — someone blinked, someone was at university, the light was terrible. None of that matters. Our painters work from as many photographs as you want to send and compose them into one picture, so the finished painting shows the family as it actually is rather than as one particular Tuesday happened to catch it.
The first subject is included in the canvas price; each additional person is £59 on the three smaller canvases and up to £105 on the largest, where every figure is painted at close to life size. That is the whole of the extra cost. There is no per-face surcharge on top and no minimum group size. Larger groups generally want a larger canvas simply so every face has room to be a proper portrait rather than a thumbnail, and we will tell you honestly which size your particular group needs before you commit.
What to send us
- One clear photograph per person — faces lit from the front, eyes open, no heavy sunglasses.
- The highest resolution you have. Straight off the phone is fine; screenshots of photos are not.
- A note on what to change: an outfit, a background, an ex-partner cropped out, a grandparent added in.
