Every commission is painted by hand in real oil on canvas by professional portrait artists, with fine brushes in a smooth realist technique — so the finish is closer to the photograph than to thick, textured brushwork, which is what most people want of a face they love. Before it ships we photograph your actual canvas and send you the picture, and nothing leaves until you've approved it. No prints, no canvas transfers, no AI — actual oil paint, actual brushes, actual canvas.

Hand-painted oil commissions and reproductions take about three to four weeks to paint, plus delivery. We deliver worldwide and delivery is included in the price; any import duty or tax charged by the country it is delivered to is separate and is yours to pay. Before it ships, we send you a photograph of the finished painting so you know exactly what's coming.

You pay when you order, through Stripe's secure checkout: card, Apple Pay or Klarna. We then check your photograph within hours, 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday (UK time), and if it won't make a good painting you can send another or have a full refund.

Every painting in our catalogue is in the public domain — meaning the artist died over 70 years ago, and the artwork is free for anyone to reproduce. We don't copy living artists. For a commission, your photograph stays yours and the finished painting is yours to keep: photograph it, share it and print it for your own personal use. We never publish, sell or reuse your photo or your painting without your permission.

Yes — dogs and cats are our most-requested commission. Send us a clear photograph (the higher resolution the better) and we'll paint your pet by hand in oil, true to the photo. If you'd like a different background, or something left out, say so when you order.

We send you a final photograph of the painting before it ships, and only dispatch once you approve. Because every piece is hand-painted to your specification, we don't offer change-of-mind refunds — but if anything is wrong with the work in that final photograph, we keep painting until you're happy. If a painting arrives damaged in transit or materially different from the approval photo, we replace or refund in full.
