The photograph most couples pick is not the formal one. It is the one taken sideways, halfway through the first dance, where you both look like yourselves. Those photographs make far better paintings than the posed shots do, because the painter has an expression to work with rather than a pose. Wedding commissions are also the ones people most often want changed: a dress detail brought back that the light lost, a marquee turned into open countryside, a guest who is no longer welcome quietly removed. Say what you want and we will show you the plan before anyone starts painting.
Ask your photographer for the full-resolution file rather than the gallery download, and check they are happy for it to be painted. The copyright in a wedding photograph belongs to them, and most are glad to say yes.
Allow three to four weeks to paint, plus delivery, so six clear weeks before an anniversary or a gift date. It arrives rolled in a tube for your framer. If you are buying for someone else, an anniversary commission from an older wedding photograph is the same job done years later.

Which wedding photograph paints best?
One where the faces are bigger than a thumbnail in the original file and the expressions are right. A candid usually beats the formal group shot, because the painter needs an expression to work with rather than a pose.
Can you remove guests or change the background?
Yes. Backgrounds get repainted, a marquee can become open countryside, and anyone you would rather not have in it is left out. Say so when you order and we show you the plan before painting starts.
How far ahead should I order?
Three to four weeks to paint, plus delivery, so allow six clear weeks before the date you need it. It arrives rolled in a tube, so add your framer's time as well.
Do I need my photographer's permission?
The copyright in your wedding photographs belongs to the photographer, so ask them before one is painted. Most are glad to agree, and a short email saying yes is enough.
Can you paint from an old wedding photograph?
Yes, and faded or creased prints are routine. Colour that has drifted over the years is rebuilt rather than copied, which is what an anniversary commission usually is.
