This meticulously rendered ground floor plan of the Halle Rathskeller offers a rare glimpse into the civic ambition of late nineteenth-century German architecture, where even the working documents of a building project were treated as works of art in their own right. Peter Joseph Weber produced this drawing around 1887, combining graphite linework with ink, watercolor, and tempera to create something that sits comfortably between technical blueprint and fine illustration. The use of layered color washes to distinguish structural elements, circulation paths, and material finishes reflects a drafting tradition in which precision and visual elegance were considered inseparable.
